We're All in a Spin for 360 Degree Product Photography
Leading Imagery
We’ve gone rather dizzy here at Leading Imagery as we’ve welcomed the arrival of 360-degree product photography (sometimes known as spin product photography).
Not sure what on earth we’re talking about? This blog will explain everything you need to know about this exciting development in product marketing and how it will benefit and grow your business.
What is 360-degree photography?
In short and simplistic terms, 360-degree product images are a series of still images of a product photographed in sequence on our highly specialised 360-degree photo turntable that turns completely for one rotation (a spin).
The end result (360-degree image) gives the viewer an opportunity to look at a product as though it’s actually physically in front of them.

They will be able to click on the product image and using a mouse, move around it in any direction, zooming in if they want a closer look for instance. Our 360-degree product photography also has the ability to create unique hotspots – allowing you to add multimedia content and metadata (think call now icons, web-links, social media links etc), which will add an even greater depth to your image content. These hotspots are easily edited and offer endless opportunities to inform the viewer.
Viewers are also able to ‘magnify’ the image, enabling an even greater inspection of the product.
How can you use 360-degree product rotating photography to benefit your business?
In today’s world of online shopping, there are so many product choices to be made. As you no doubt are aware, consumers will often make side by side comparisons of the different products and the best deals on the screen, trying to work out which is the right product for them before they commit to purchasing. So many choices…
So how do you make your product stand out?
Simple – by using 360-degree photography you WILL gain the competitive edge by giving your customer the opportunity to immediately interact with the product. A few clicks later and they’re on your website waiting to pay. Having seen all of the product in greater detail teamed with your informative hotspots, you have gently moved the customer along the sales funnel journey towards the checkout. Result!
360-degree photography is a must-have for any business selling multi-dimensional products enabling customers to view all aspects and angles of products and make informed decisions. 360-degree photography will also significantly reduce product returns.
Other benefits
Apart from the obviously increased sales. Adding 360-degree photos to your website also increase your SEO ranking on Google as well as Google Maps. Encouraging viewers to click on your products during a web search will undoubtedly encourage more traffic to your website and therefore increase your lead generation over your competition.
Also, by encouraging viewers to inspect your products in more detail will result in more time spent on your website, which again will improve rankings.
