Chesterfield Photography Courses

Use your digital SLR to its maximum potential
DSLR Training courses from just £100

We are currently running a one-day photography course at Leading Imagery. The course is aimed at Digital SLR users and will help you get to grips and use your digital SLR to its maximum potential. (Rather than setting it to automatic and just hoping for the best). We will teach you the skills, knowledge, and confidence to use your camera in a fun, friendly, and relaxed environment.

Andy Hibbard is an ABIPP, ANPS, ARPS photographer at Leading Imagery with over 17 years of experience. During this time, he’s photographed the weird and wonderful both in the UK and around the world. From capturing front line action in both Iraq and Afghanistan with the Royal Marines to studio work photographing Chinchillas! He was formally trained at the Defence School of Photography, one of Europe’s largest and most renowned photography schools.

Unlock Your Potential

One Day Basic DSLR Training Course

This one-day training courses include both theory and practical. The practical part is taught in our purpose-built studio at Clay Cross, Derbyshire, with the theory taking part in the local area.
The course is designed to take no more than 10 people on any one course, ensuring that everyone receives full attention throughout the day.

On completion of the course, you will master the basics in digital photography, helping you along your way to producing your very own stunning images.

The course starts at 09.00 and will finish at approximately 17.00

Theory

  • How the lens and camera produces an image.
  • Composition – How to create eye-catching images.
  • Exposure – How to use the camera’s manual settings and create a correct exposure.
  • Practical:
In the afternoon we will go out as a group into the local area, where you will be given a list of images to capture using your newly taught camera skills.
When we return to the studio a group debrief will be given on everyone’s images so you can see where you can improve. It always helps if you can also see other people’s work, and learn from what they have done both right and where they can improve.

What to bring
First and foremost you need to bring yourself along with your DLSR and lenses camera bag etc.
Whilst there will be copious amounts of tea and coffee available, and maybe a few biscuits. We can’t provide you with any food for health and safety reasons, so we suggest bringing a packed up lunch. As there is a lot to fit into just one day there will be just 30 minutes allocated for lunch.
Suitable clothing for the time of year, we will be going out into the wilderness – OK maybe not the wilderness, but we will be going outside so sensible clothing and footwear for the time of year.
A notebook and pen are essential. There will be a printed presentation for you to use and take home. This print out also enables more time to focus on the course itself.

Furthermore, it will free up more time for you to spend discussing and asking Andy lots of questions that you may have.

If you have read this far you should be surely wondering how much it would cost to attend one of our photography courses, the answer is only: £150
